Gross embezzlement at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg, Sweden

An embezzlement at the Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg has now been revealed. According to reports to PokerGuide.com, the suspects have controlled surveillance cameras in other directions and let their partner place their chips after the roulette ball landed. To avoid any larger attention, they innitially started with small bets which later became bigger.

It was a week ago that Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg was subject to an internal coup, when eight people, including seven employees, were caught on film when they tried to cheat the casino in “a large sum of money.”
Officially, no one wants to comment on how the fraud took place, but according to information brought to us, one of the suspects is one of the casino’s real high roller and also the braind behind the group who mostly played roulette and poker.
- He is a key figure in context, the source said.

Another of the mentioned suspects is the casino’s operations manager. He had the ability to control surveillance cameras on the tables which gave him the chance to divert the attention on the tables where the cheating allegendly was taken place. The operation manager is also claimed to be very good friend with the high roller.
Four more suspects were working as operational supervisors and thus had the power to authorize payments of over 5000 SEK, $750, at the casino table. The last two suspect were dealers and had direct contact with the player.

The scenario is as reported to have started with smaller bets on roulette. When the ball fell into the number the player instantly moved the chips to the winning color or number. Hence that its assumed that both the dealer and the pitboss manager were in on it, the player had no problem making his move at the tables without raising suspisions. Local autorizties claim that the co-operation has been going on for roughly two months and that the group made well over $200,000 in profit with their cheating.
The cheating was unrevealed thanks to a new security surveillance assignment which was focusing on major high rollers at the casino, which also help them uncover the employees that were taking part of the cheating as well.
Some of the seven suspected employees have worked very long for the casino. Few of them were actually in service since the start of the casino in Gotherburg, Sweden which is over nine years ago.
All suspects where arrested and detained on Friday the 18th of November, but further released hence that the local autorities are more than confident that they have secured all needed evidence after the questioning.
